Registration Open for End of Summer Camps and Fall Recreation Activities
Laguna Beach, CA – The City of Laguna Beach Community Services Department is pleased to announce that registration is open for the End of Summer Camps and Fall Recreation Programs.

“There are a lot of fun and exciting summer camps still available for kids and parents to take advantage of, with some running all the way through August 30,” said Christa Johnson, Assistant City Manager. “For families who were busy with travel or other activities over the summer months,
this is a great way for kids to still have that summer recreation or camp experience before school starts.”
Little Mermaids & Sea Cubs Camp, Laguna Beach Surf School and Beach Camp Laguna are some of the remaining programs still available for summer participation. All remaining camps start August 19, with the exception of the second session of Surf School which starts on August 26.
Although Laguna Beach Unified School District begins on August 26, we have included a final week camp for the benefit of our summer tourists and students with a traditional school calendar beginning after Labor Day.
“Our camps and programs are important because they offer a structured opportunity for children to learn new skills in a supportive and nourishing environment,” Johnson said. “It allows kids to socialize, make new friends and also promotes independence and self-confidence while having fun.”The following camps and programs have availability:
Little Mermaids & Sea Cubs Camp – Ages: 4.5 – 7 yrs.
August 19-23
Cost: $160These beach and ocean exploration camps will introduce children to the marine environment. Campers will learn about beach and ocean safety, explore tide pools, learn about sea creatures, and have fun in an educational outdoor setting. Beach activities will include simple exercises and games at various beaches. Participants must bring a hat, SPF 30+ sunscreen, towel, sandals, water, snack, and a backpack large enough to hold all gear. Class meets at Heisler Park, on the green grass at the

Youth, ages 8 and up (younger than 8 with Director’s approval) will be offered basic through advanced surf instruction in a series of fun, progressive wave riding exercises on the beach and in the water. Students will be taught safety tips, surfing etiquette, and ocean awareness skills. Our method of instruction will allow students to build confidence and proficiency at their own pace.
Beach Camp Laguna – Ages 7-14

These one-week beach and ocean exploration camps will offer education about the marine environment and ocean safety. Less strenuous than the Junior Guards program, they offer beach activities that include short ocean swims past the breakers, some strenuous running, lifeguard games, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, body surfing, and more! We will take trolley rides all over Laguna Beach to explore tide pools, learn about sea animals, and have fun in an enjoyable outdoor setting. Participants must be able to swim. Bring a hat, SPF 30+ sunscreen, towel, sandals, water, lunch ($10 for lunch on Fridays), and a backpack large enough to hold all gear. LIFT 5-Ingredient Feast – Ages 6-11

Cost: $209, plus $60 material fee
In each lesson, campers will learn culinary basics and work with the chef to make that day’s recipe. Campers will chop (safely, with metal butter knives), mix, season taste and cook our recipes. Also, they will learn about nutrition, culture, science, etiquette and more! Online Fall registration opened on Monday, August 5 and the Fall Recreation Brochure will arrive in resident’s mailboxes around Monday, August 19, if not sooner. But why wait for the brochure?
