Laguna Beach Face Coverings Guidelines


Face Coverings Mandatory in Laguna Beach Essential Businesses and Strongly Encouraged for All Businesses in City

Laguna Beach, CA – All customers and workers of Essential Businesses in the City of Laguna Beach are required to wear face coverings at all times when inside the businesses to provide protection from the spread of COVID-19.  Any customer not wearing a face covering when entering an Essential Business should be refused service and asked to leave the premises. The City of Laguna Beach strongly encourages all other businesses open to the public within the City also require all customers and employees to wear face coverings while inside the business.  

Face coverings are required to be worn at all Laguna Beach Essential Businesses including: grocery stores, pharmacies, home improvement stores, gas station convenience stores, restaurants, banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and construction sites.   All residents of the City and of Orange County are strongly recommended by the Acting Orange County Health Officer to continue to wear face coverings over their nose and mouth outside their home whenever they are within six feet of another person who is not a family/household member.  

“We strongly encourage all businesses in the City of Laguna Beach, whether essential or not, to continue to require all employees and customers wear face coverings to receive service,” said Laguna Beach City Manager John Pietig. “Wearing face coverings provides an additional layer of protection for everyone from the spread of COVID-19 in our community.” 

“We continue to follow the guidance and requirements of the State and the County in respect to face coverings. They are still required in all essential businesses like grocery stores and pharmacies and strongly recommended everywhere else where you cannot physically distance from others,” said Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen.  “We are far from out of the woods on this pandemic and medical experts agree that face coverings will reduce the community spread of COVID-19.  I urge residents and visitors to Laguna Beach to be smart, think of others and wear a face covering where you can’t physically distance.  It’s a good idea for your own health and a small sacrifice to protect the health of others around you.”
