City of Laguna Beach, February 20, 2020, Media Release
Laguna Beach, CA – In an ongoing effort to improve traffic circulation and enhance pedestrian safety in the Downtown area, the City of Laguna Beach is preparing to construct intersection improvements along Coast Highway between Broadway and Legion Street. Construction is scheduled to begin on February 24 and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2020.
Project highlights include:
Converting Ocean Avenue to a one-way street from Beach Street to Coast Highway
Installing pedestrian all-way crossings (scrambles) at Forest Avenue and Laguna Avenue
Lengthening left turn lanes at Broadway, Forest Avenue and Legion Street
Relocating crosswalk from south to north side of Ocean Avenue
Expanding and improving curb access ramps to meet current standards
Access will be maintained throughout the duration of this project, although parking restrictions and traffic impacts can be expected during lane closure hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, excluding holidays.
The City will be working with the area businesses throughout the work to minimize construction impacts. The City’s contractor, Alfaro Communications Construction, will work to minimize dust, noise, restricted access, parking restrictions, traffic and other related impacts to the greatest extent possible.
