4 Simple Steps to Help Marine Mammals

This is Leia, a sea lion pup rescued from Newport Pier on Sunday, December 1st at only 31 pounds.

She had to be sedated to remove the fish hooks from her mouth and front flipper.

Simple steps that can help Leia and other marine mammals:

* NEVER ABANDON YOUR FISHING GEAR
* Use barbless circle hooks and knot-free buoy lines to reduce injuries
* Recycle fishing line and stash your trash
* Don’t cast your line if a marine mammal is in the area
